    Camera Not Mounting

    Hi,
    I'm having a problem getting my external camera to mount via USB. It worked fine in 12.04 & 14.04 but I can't get it to mount in 16.04. The camera is recognized as a usb device:
    Code:

    I have installed:
    Code:
    gphoto2
    gthumb
    But the camera never mounts. If I remove the card (PITA since there's a mounting bracket over the access) and plug it into my card reader all works as expected.

    Any ideas on what could be missing??
    Thanks!

    Re: Camera Not Mounting

    Is there not any way to remove the memory card? (You can buy cheap readers on ebay).
    If it worked before it may be the driver was dropped from the Kernel. Do you know anything about installing a custom kernel? (Or search for a module).

    Can you input your exact model and name of the Camera?

    Re: Camera Not Mounting

    Hi izznogooood,

    The camera is
    Code:
    Product: Lumix DMC-ZS15
    Manufacturer: Panasonic
    No experience with custom kernels, unless installing drivers/modules counts as a custom kernel.
    I would check to see if the camera is still included, but I can't figure out "what" to research.

    I have an external card reader, but getting the card out is a PITA as I have a mounting bracket over the card door.

    It just seems so odd that it's recognized as a usb device when I plug it in, but it's ignored in nautilus/unity.

    Does this work for anyone out there??

    Re: Camera Not Mounting

    OK, since I seem to be the only one with this issue, I decided to create a manual work around.
    Since I see the camera attach to /dev/sdi1 when I plug it into the usb port, I use pmount to create a user owned mount point for it in /media. Then I launch gthumb and call the import dialog. Lastly, I cerated a desktop button for this in unity and put it in /home/gotit/.local/share/applications.

    camera_mount script:
    Code:
    #!/bin/sh
    if mountpoint -q /media/camera
    	then pumount camera
    	else pmount /dev/sdi1/ camera
    		sleep 1
    		gthumb --import-photos
    fi
    Desktop button:
    Code:
    [Desktop Entry]
    Type=Application
    Name=Camera Mount
    Exec=/home/gotit/Scripts/camera_mount.sh
    Keywords=camera,photos
    Icon=/home/gotit/Icons/Camera.png
    Categories=Unity;Media;
    If anyone has a better method, please chime in.
