    Making a website in Ubunut

Don't really know where to put this, so sorry if it's in the wrong place
It's been a while since I used Ubuntu, but since I'm planning to create a website to publish some movies, texts and photos, it seemed like the right time to (re)turn to Ubuntu.
I am, however, still a complete noob in webdesign, as my studies start in september.
It seemed like a good idea to try something out, since I have a lot of spare time on my hands, so I thought it'd be a good idea to do so in Ubuntu.

So I'm wondering if you could point me in the right direction...
I'm looking for a web development program which is rather easy to use, since my knowlege on CSS and HTML is rather limited to non-existing.
It may be a bit advanced, I'm not looking for a site hosted on another website or one created by three mouse clicks
I also have adobe dreamweaver/fireworks/.. at my disposal, but I want to try this in Ubuntu, since I'm kinda underusing it atm
    So any help is welcome!

Your best bet is to get used to gedit... Using an IDE for html and css is a probably not the best idea.

Honestly, these days with Wordpress, Joomla, and the like being free, why reinvent the wheel?

Set up a database and install the software and away you go.

At least that's where I've ended up after several years of writing my own HTML, then SHTML, then php. I just gave in and started using Wordpress.

Yeah, check out drupal.org. Find a templete you like and just add your content. It's really easy to figure out.

There are tons of modules that you can add for specific functions like a shopping cart.

I knew I was forgetting another big one, it was Drupal. Thanks!

I'm barely a web developer but I find CMS like drupal and wordpress really boring to use. I usually code in bluefish and gedit simultaneously.

Oh and I usually use python than than php, along with jinja2 for templating.

Geany is really useful for writing out your html, css, php, python, and any other style of script/language you want to use to create a website. I use wordpress but that does not mean that I need to 'give up' coding ;D I build custom plugins and templates.
