Maybe I'm thinking too simple here, but have you tried choosing your account by simply pressing enter (and if it's the wrong account using the cursor-keys)?
Is this still valid for 10.10?
I think there were major changes with respect to Xorg and I'm afraid to break my productive machine by trying the solution.
edit: sry for the necromancy, btw

I had problems installing the Zotero-Plugin from here, so I followed their linux guide here (scroll down to "component loading error") and installed java via

How come then, that the guy who started this thread got his optimus card to work? Is the difference maybe that there is a second card involved whenever it is not working?
Do you mean "avoid Optimus at all costs" or "avoid Optimus at all costs if it is part of a switchable graphics setup". According to this thread, it seems that optimus works, as long as there is no...
Does that maybe help you?
It is not quite what you wanted, but it sounds like it could help...
At least the guy in this thread seemed to be ok with the solution in the end.
Hi all,
generally I hear that it is preferable to buy nVidia-laptops due to better drivers for the GPUs.
In particular, though, this does not seem to hold for laptops with switchable graphics...
Maybe this thread will help you:

@HDMI: Same problem here, no solution yet.
@Graphics in general: Has anyone got the proprietary ATI driver working? (got dm4 here, not dm4t; just for clarification)

Hi everyone,
I'd like to administrate my parents' computer over the internet. When I google for a tutorial on what I have to install and configure on my and their PC, I always end up with...
Thanks, Stagger Lee, that resolved my issues. Though, it should probably have been
sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf
Also, if you use
sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
The post here from Stagger Lee resolved my issues.
Still wondering why the issue came up after the upgrade in the first place, though, but hey, it works now. :D
Don't have JavaScriptBlocker installed and deactivating AdBlock did not make a difference. Other than those I would not know what would block Java. Java is activated in FF, of course.
My Chrome...

Turns out, Remmina is an adequate alternative.
Anyway, thanks for listening. :)
Whenerver I try to log on to our Windows 2008 R2 server via rdesktop, the window stays at the same small size. I can neither enlarge the window at the borders nor maximize it. Alt+Ctrl+Enter simply...
I tried a KDE live CD, to no avail. I also updated to Lucid Lynx now, which did not help either.
Could it be it is a hardware problem even though it works on the other OS?
Additionally I found the following problems:
When I type "sudo fsck /dev/sdb", the system answers that the resource is busy although I just mounted it as described above and did nothing else.

I haven't and I probably won't mess with installing KDE on my Gnome-system. However, I might try a Live-CD. Should have the same effect, right?
By the way: Isn't the underlying system for mounting...
Hi all,
my external 1 TB hard drive is listed when I type

Oops, I just realised I posted (almost) the same question twice. Here is the second threat with a (bit more) conclusive answer:

Thanks for the answer, if only for confirming my point of view: If I do what I want to do, there is no easy way.
